About TripTale

TripTale is a self-hosted application for planning trips together. Destinations, daily plans, accommodation, restaurants, notes, checklists and changes stay organised in one place.

The application runs on your own web hosting, keeping installation and data under your control.

Installation

Installation

1. Create an empty MySQL or MariaDB database and obtain its access details from your hosting provider.
2. Extract the ZIP and upload all files to the intended directory on your web space.
3. Open https://your-domain.example/installer.php in a browser.
4. Enter the database host, database name, user, password, table prefix and the full application URL.
5. Enter the first name, last name, email address and a main administrator password of at least 12 characters, then start installation.
6. After installation, delete installer.php and setup.php from the server and sign in through login.php.

System requirements

• Standard web hosting with PHP 8.0 or newer
• MySQL or MariaDB with InnoDB and utf8mb4
• PHP PDO MySQL extension
• Write access for config/ and the uploads/ folder created during installation
• HTTPS and PHP mail delivery or SMTP recommended
• PHP GD recommended for image processing; without GD, suitable images are stored unchanged

PHP 8.0 follows from the PHP language features used by the package. The installer does not currently check the PHP version itself.
